Hello China families!
This is just a quick update to say that we are hearing great things from the China trip, but the blog has been difficult to tend as internet access has been sporadic for the group. Hopefully we'll have lots of fun pictures and stories to share when they return!

Class City Projects
As Mr. Zhi already mentioned at our last meeting, students are working on their city projects. They are researching the cities we will be visiting: Beijing, Xi'an, Yangshuo, Suzhou, and Shanghai.
The topics they had to look up were:
1) General Info (population, history, geographical location, etc..)
2) Food and Drinks
3) Culture and Customs
4) Specific Points to Note
5) Dialect
6) Specific Sight Seeing Spots
and other topics that interested the students.
Overall, Mr. Zhi wanted the students to know more information before we left. Initially, he had the students brainstorm what the students thought about the city before any research. Then, after the research, they students wrote about what they noticed, what new information they found out about, and any other surprising facts. At the end, he had the students compare and contrast their first beliefs to the factual ones. As a class, students were informed of the new information they learned.
As of now, the students are wrapping up their research. Pictures will be posted soon!

10 MORE DAYS!
GOOD MORNING, EVERYONE!
WAKE UP & SMELL THE COFFEE!
10 DAYS UNTIL CHINA!
Welcome to Alice Deal's China 2016 Blog. Here, Principal Albright and other teachers who are chaperoning the trip will be updating friends and family in America about our experiences and whereabouts. In my latest e-mail, there was an attached file. That file contained Mr. Otterstatter's 2013 experience when he went on this trip. If you did not receive that e-mail, please let me know ASAP so I can add you onto our e-mail chain.
The following links are articles written by the Chinese International Magazine. Every year, Mr. Zhi, with success, communicates with them and they write about Alice Deal and our exchange with their brother/sister school in China. Enjoy the articles! Unfortunately, we cannot find the 2012 and 2015 articles. When we locate them, I will share with you all.

2014: http://www.womenofchina.cn/womenofchina/html1/news/international/17/2214-1.htm
Just a reminder..
1) Make sure your passport and visa are up to date and ready for action!
2) Seems like it will be in the mid 60s while we are in China, but please make sure to check the weather. I will send out another e-mail before we all leave.
3) Ask your child about their in- class city projects!
Take care for now.
